It's time for the 2nd annual...





READ THE RULES AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THEM BEFORE YOU CREATE A SUBMISSION. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ENTRIES THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES.

Entry #1


Draw 1 OFFICIAL Pokemon in a "realistic" style.

By "realistic" I mean that the drawing does not have to resemble a real animal, but it must look more "real" than the cartoony style of Pokemon.

Also, the realistic Pokemon does not have to stay true to the Original's exact design. Here's an example of that [link]
As you can see, the "shoes" in hitmonchan's original design were turned into real feet and the "gloves" were turned into real hands.

If you are very dedicated to working on this entry, you should look up the animal that your chosen official Pokemon is based off of and base your realistic design on that animal, but still retain the Pokemon qualities.


Entry #2


Create 1 Fakemon that is based off of a real-world legend, myth, folklore, etc. IT CANNOT BE A "LEGENDARY" POKEMON.

An example of a non-legendary Pokemon based off a real-world legend is Ninetails, which is based off of the Nine-tailed Fox of Japanese and Chinese folklore. Another example is Froslass, which is based off of the Yuki-onna of Japanese folklore.

You can choose any myth from ANYWHERE in the world, from cultures such as Aztec, Egyptian, Native American, Japanese, Chinese, etc...

Also, because the entry cannot be a "legendary Pokemon", it cannot be too extravagant, as most "legendaries" are.


Entry #3


Create 1 completely new Fakemon.

MUST BE UNRELATED TO ANY OFFICIAL POKEMON. NO LEGENDARIES.

(The "create 1 Fakemon" entry is a staple in every one of my contests to come. I don't want to hear any "you did that last year" crap)



DO NOT TRACE OFFICIAL WORKS. ANY OFFENDERS OF TRACING WILL BE DISQUALIFIED

Each contestant is required to submit the three entries listed in the rules above. No more, no less.

To submit your entries to the contest, simply leave a COMMENT, not a note, to me with all three entries linked in it.

DO NOT LINK ME ONE ENTRY AT A TIME.


ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO DEVIANTART AS DEVIATIONS. I WILL NOT ACCEPT ENTRIES FROM ANY OTHER SITES. If you don't comply by this rule, your entry will not be added.

This is to ensure that all entries are easily accessible, due to the fact that DeviantArt now has the "Outgoing Link" warning page. I'm sure you all hate that page to death.

I will close entries for submissions on August 31, giving you all plenty of time to come up with the three submissions.

Contestant entry is open until August 31 as well. There is no limit on the number of contestants.

Round 1- the contestants will be split into groups and you, the people, will vote on who will move on to the next round.
the top 3 contestants of each group will move on


Round 2- the remaining contestants will, again, be split into groups and you, the people, will vote on who will move to the next round.


Round 3- I, along with some other experienced artists, will determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners along with the reason for choosing them.

-Drawings of the winner's 2nd and 3rd Fakemon entries in my Fakemon style: Colored, shaded, and completed with a tag.
(This only includes the 2nd and 3rd entries, because the 1st entry is an official Pokemon, not a fakemon)



2nd Place


-A Drawing of the winner's 2nd or 3rd Fakemon entry in my Fakemon style: Colored, shaded, and completed with a tag.



3rd Place


-Line-art of the winner's 2nd or 3rd Fakemon entry (same as 2nd place, but uncolored and no tag)

how big is your computer screen? Some of people have been saying they can't see half of it and their computers were tiny. I want to make sure that's the case.
